Did you know that the twelfth day of Christmas, the 6th of January is celebrated across Europe and in Latin America as 'El Dia de los Reyes', marking the arrival of the Three Wise Men? In Spain traditionally, instead of Santa Claus, it is the Three Wise Men/Los Reyes Magos that bring children their gifts. In Ireland, January 6th is marked by Nollaig na mBan or Women's Little Christmas, where traditionally women gather together to enjoy a celebration, while men stay home. Although this custom is slowly fading in many parts of Ireland, in Co. Cork, it is still strong and many Corkonian women meet up with girl friends, sisters, aunts and mothers to celebrate.
