My Spa Journey - ESPA Fitness Massage

The ESPA Fitness Massage is a full body treatment ideal before or after exercise using essential oils of lavender, Rosemary and Clove to help increase circulation and warm muscles, helping to prevent strains and relieving aches and pains. This is an ideal treatment for those involved in sports, fitness or heavy physical work. It works really well before or after a long run or a match as it will warm up the muscles before workout and relieves the muscles after. The ESPA Fitness Massage is offered as a 50 min or 80 min massage but is best recommended for 80 minutes as this covers the full body massage. In the 50 min massage there is a 30 minute back massage and you have an option of choosing the back of the legs and thighs, front legs or upper body.  In the 80 minutes massage all areas of the body are covered and the therapist is allowed to go deeper due to the time they have available to spend on each part of the body.

The treatment begins with a back massage which is great as the back is really stretched out with a number of specific techniques. The leg massage involved a couple of really good stretches and certain areas were massage during the stretch which made it very effective. I was surprised how tender my IT band was but as a runner this would be more common than normal. I found this to be the best part of the massage as I felt I had a really good workout of the muscles.
As the massage moved up to the arms and shoulder area I felt extremely relaxed and my therapist worked in deep to remove the tension and tightness in my front shoulder and neck.

For this treatment the Fitness Oil is used which is a deeply warming and powerfully soothing moisturising massage oil for tired, sore muscles. It is great to ease tired muscles, speed recovery and soothe aching joints before and after exercise. Restorative indian bay and clove bud oils deeply warm and relax the body to relieve tired muscles, aches and pains while lavender helps ease the mind, while sweet almond oil deeply nourishes for softer, supple skin. We would recommend that you use the Fitness Bath Oil after a treatment to help continue the spa experience at home.

All our spa guests have full use of the water lounge and swimming pool for an hour or so before and after treatments. I would recommend that you use the steam room before this treatment as it will warm the muscles beforehand and allow the therapist to work deeper on the muscles sooner.
