For my third week on my spa journey I tried an evening with a difference enjoyed with a group of friends perfect for celebration a special occassion or just because we are worth it....
So it is week three of my spa journey whereby I am working my way through the spa brochure to learn about the treatments and how they benefit our guests. This week I tried something different in that a group of my friends had decided that we needed a treat and a girly night out to celebrate our achievement of running a 5K race after months of practice so we had a SPArty on Friday evening last at The Spa at Castlemartyr Resort, Cork. A SPArty is ideal for a special occassion such as birthday celebrations, baby showers, bridal parties or if you just want a relaxing afternoon or evening with friends. Guests are invited to relax with friends in the luxury and tranquility of The Spa overlooking our beautiful gardens while being pampered by The Spa Team. A treatment menu is provided in line with your budget and afternoon tea can be served in your own private suite after your treatments so you can continue to relax in your robes while dining. In my case we choose to have our treatments in the evening followed by dinner in our casual dining Italian restaurant, "Franchini's".
As friends arrived in the late afternoon and early evening we made our way to The Spa and changed into our fluffy robes and slippers. Some guests relaxed in the relaxation room and caught up on the gossip of the week while other members of our party enjoyed using the water lounge located in the spa area with vitality pool, sauna, steam room and experience shower after a swim in the pool. Over the course of the evening we were called for our treatments and we casusally drifted in and out of these relaxing areas.
The treatment I choose to have this week was the regenerating and firming eye treatment as this treatment was listed in the treatment menu available to our party. This is a really luxurious treatment and can be enjoyed on its own or after one of our ESPA Skin Solution Facials. Firstly I recieved an eye cleanse before a skin vision lamp was used to allow Eilish, my therapist, to take a closer look at the skin around my eyes with a magnifying lamp to determine my skin type and condition. As per my blog last week my eyes are on the road to recovery however there is still some work to be done. After a brief discussion on what daily routine would help to improve the hydration of my eyes, I had a scrub concentrating on the eye area to stimulate cell renewal before a deeply relaxing eye massage. The stimulating eye massage increases circulation into the eye area and brings in new nutrients to reduce puffiness around the eye area as well as pressure points and lymphatic drainage to reduce the appearance of dark cirlces and puffiness. Once the ESPA lift and firm eye mask was applied I recieved a hand and arm massage while the mask soaked in. The regenerating and firming eye treatment is only a 30 minute treatment but is felt alot longer as the therapist did not leave the room and was there to pamper you at all times. The hand and arm massage only served to relax me further after the wonderful eye massage. Once the mask was removed ESPA Lift & Firm Eye Moisturiser and Serum were applied. Eilish informed me that it is crucial we use a specific eye moisturiser around the eye area as the skin is thinner in this area than the rest of the face and face moisturiser if used here is too heavy and can clog the pores. Eilish recommended that I use 24 Hour Replenishing Eye Moisturiser which treats the delicate skin around the eyes with a finely balanced eye cream, formulated to replenish, soothe, dimish fine lines and ease shawdows. Ginkgo Biloba helps to minimise fine lines and stimulate microcirculation to reduce puffiness and dark circles. Antioxident-rich Mimosa and Evening Primrose hydrate and protect against the elements to help prevent the early signs of ageing. This product is one of our most popular and produces magnificient results.
After the treatment I gently floated back to the relaxation room to join my friends and enjoy the smoothies, granola bars and fruit kebabs over light conversation and casual banter. Some members of the party had moved on to the hair salon located in the spa for a wash and blow dry preparing themselves for the evening ahead. Once we had pulled each other off the comfy beds in the relaxation room we began the mad panic to put on the dresses and doll ourselves up for dinner. Having the wash and blow dry after the spa treatments was a great idea and I must say we felt fabulous entering Franchini's. The dinner continued with the relaxed feel and before we knew it, it was time for a night cap in the Knights Bar where a trad band provided the perfect end to our evening. This was certainly an evening with a difference and one to be enjoyed not only for a special occassion but also just because we are worth it.......
