My Spa Journey - ESPA Refining Skin Polish

February 14, 2014

On my spa journey I have decided to review some of ESPA's best loved products for sale at The Spa at Castlemartyr Resort and at the moment the renew promotion is running offering a complimentary refining skin polish for with all retail purchases over €55.00 so I have decided to review this wonderful product.

On my spa journey of discovery I have decided to take some time to review one of ESPA's best loved products that are for sale at The Spa at Castlemartyr Resort that I have had the privilege to experience during the wonderful treatments I have received on this journey. Using only the purest extracts and active ingredients in their products, ESPA have a wide variety of products that are used all around the world in their 350 spas for the ultimate spa experience and they are only fabulous. The renew promotion currently running at The Spa at Castlemartyr Resort offers customers a complimentary gift of Refining Skin Polish with all retail purchases over €55.00. I was lucky enough to receive a sample a few weeks ago and decided to try it out.

ESPA refining skin polish aims to be a gentle exfoliating facial cream sweeping away dull and dry skin while it helps brighten and revitalise. Spherical Diatonaceous Earth exfoliates skin to help clear pores, lift impurities, balance uneven skin tone and stimulate cell renewal, while nourishing Rose Damascena and Shea Butter soften to refine, smooth and revitalise therefore helping to create a smoother and brighter complexion.

The ESPA Refining Skin Polish is different to any other exfoliator I have tried. It's quite creamy and mild, yet packs a great punch of very fine little "scrubbers" that do the job very nicely without being too hard on the skin. The polish is a light and gentle exfoliating cream which feels soft like very fine sand. It has got to be one of the softest exfoliators I have ever used. I use the exfoliator twice a week which is recommended for dry skin however, if you have oily skin it is best recommended to use it once a week to avoid over stimulation of oil production. This product lends itself to the phrase "A little goes along wa" as I only use a small amount, about the size of a euro coin and it is well sufficient. The only problem I can finds with this exfoliator is that I am tempted to use it more than recommended as it leaves my skin feeling clean and fresh with a clear glow. My make-up also sits perfectly on my skin the day after using it so I like to do it the night before a night out.

Just one of the amazing exfoliating ingredients that ESPA have included in this polish is Diatomaceous Earth. This is a very fine white powder created by grinding tiny fossilised water plants which is fantastic for your skin as it is great for restoring and creating a glowing complexion and removing daily dirt from your pores. For me one of the great benefits of the ESPA products are their scent and the refining skin polish certainly lives up to this. The fragrance of the polish is a subtle floral scent with notes of rose, coconut and rose geranium oil which is quite refreshing and uplifting. It not only feels luxurious but smells luxurious too so it is easy to create that spa experience at home.

Exfoliation should be part of any weekly skin routine as not only does it remove dead cells, stimulating cell renewal for a more even skin tone but it aids deeper, more effective absorption of serums, face oils and moisturisers helping restore vitality to skin that is feeling dull, sluggish and congested. I would definitely recommend this polish to anyone who loves a deep exfoliation but one that is not too rough on the skin. It is an added bonus that it is now complimentary with all retail purchases over €55.00 while stocks last so you can stock up on some other amazing ESPA products at the same time.
