‘Tis The Season To Be Jolly’

December 10, 2015

We all know Christmas is a time full of magic and celebrations. It’s a time where little kids faces light up, imaginations run wild and magic is created.  It's the season to be jolly, the season of goodwill and the season to make memories to last a lifetime. It's time to think outside the box and create those moments where memories will be created. We are sharing with you some festive moments where memories will be created this Christmas season... moments surrounding us here in the resort.

  • It's all about getting that Christmas Glow... what better place to get that glow then in Cork’s Christmas festival 'Glow' in the heart of the city on the Grand Parade. A festival to bring a smile to your face. Running every Friday to Sunday until December 20th. Admire the city lights on a giant Ferris wheel, indulge in the tasty food markets and get into the festive mood as you walk around Santa's Workshop at Bishop Lucey Park (Santa's Workshop is open 4pm-8pm Friday to Sunday).
  • Chooo Chooo Chooo!! All aboard the Elf Express Train at The Cork Northpole Outpost Experience. A magical wonderland in Cuskinny is waiting for you to take a magical journey back to a time where Christmas was about creating magical memories together. An experience a little different and guaranteed to get you into the festive mood. Believe in the fun!
  • Nothing beats a beach day... even in December. We have some amazing beaches surrounding our resort. Some of our favourites are Inch Beach, Garryvoe Beach and Ardnahinch Beach.
  • We know it is getting cold but wrap up warm and why not test out some of the amazing walks that Ireland has to offer. Some of our favourite walks are the Ardmore Cliff Walk in Waterford and also the Ballycotton Cliff Walk in Cork. A great way to spend a morning or afternoon in the fresh air. You can always come into us for some festive treats afterwards to warm up again.
  • Get your skates on... Cork on ice is now open and a great way to spend an evening. Whether your good at it or not... it's always great fun.
  • Sometimes it is nice to go a little off the beaten track and spend time getting unique presents for your loved ones. Art, pottery and many creative gems surround us here in East Cork. One of our favourite places to wonder around is Stephen Pearce’s pottery in Shanagarry. Their skilled, friendly potters use the natural clay and the fresh water together in order to create each unique piece of Stephen Pearce Pottery. We also love Ardmore Pottery and Shanagarry Design Centre is a great spot for supporting local East Cork artists. Perfect spots to collect some unique presents.
  • Midleton is only up the road from the resort. It's a village full of boutiques and gems. The perfect setting to pick up some festive presents. There is also a farmers market, which runs every Saturday morning. A great spot to walk around and soak up the festive atmosphere.
  • Leahy's Open Farm is ready to give you a Santa Experience to remember. The Christmas elves and fairies are creating magic at the Santa village in the farm. The perfect spot to visit Santa and experience something a little bit different.
  • Castlemartyr Forest Recreation Area is the perfect place to stroll around and admire views. This is a walk ideal for those seeking a relatively short stroll and allows one to get up close to nature! Firstly the Pigeon Wood loop which is a short stroll of 1km and secondly the Mitchell Wood Loop which is slightly longer at 2.4km. The walk allows you to dream, discover and explore the lakes, forest and castle ruins as you breath in the fresh air of nature. We will warm you up afterwards with hot chocolate by the fire.

Christmas is all about doing something a little extra for someone... If you are planning a Christmas present this year... why not take them an adventure or create a memory with your loved ones instead! You could treat them to an early Christmas present to one of the above. Or if you want to give a gift of a memory, why not give them a treat to use after Christmas... we have lots of vouchers for spa days, meal vouchers and even an afternoon tea experience here in the resort. It might be the perfect present for someone in your life.
